Observatree wins at Horticulture Week Custodian Awards

On Wednesday 28th June the annual Horticulture Week Custodian Awards took place at Woburn Abbey’s Sculpture Gallery.  These awards celebrate the best of parks, gardens and tree management by showcasing achievements and highlighting the role they play.

The Observatree project was shortlisted in the category of ‘Best community/volunteer initiative’.  Entries in this category were judged by an independent panel of judges including the chair of the Professional Gardeners Guild, Technical Editor of Horticulture Week together with garden and arboricultural experts.

At the event it was revealed that Observatree had scooped the category award, beating off stiff competition.  Representatives from the project – the Woodland Trust’s Helen Jones and Anna O’Connor, two project volunteers and Suzy Sancisi-Frey from Forest Research – stepped on stage to accept their award from Lord Michael Heseltine.
